The diaphragm muscle is the top of your core and is the best place to start core training. Once you can breathe well and coordinate your breath with the rest of the core, you will find new power and function in your whole core!

The abdominals are most likely to be identified with the core. This online course is all about the deepest layer of the abdomen. Connecting this muscle with the breath will help you to improve your core function & posture.

The pelvic floor is probably the most difficult area of the core to connect with. This course benefits from the expertise and experience of Gillian's 15 years working with women to improve the function of these often elusive muscles.

The back and buttocks are key members of the core. They assist hip function and directly relate to pelvic floor strength and tension. Training these areas effectively will help you to complete the core puzzle.

What is the RE-CORE-NECT Method?

RE-CORE-NECT is a process of connecting with your body, especially your core muscles, so that you can use them like they were designed to be used. I use this method in clinic every day and find that a 'top down' approach to core training is the most effective way.

Stage 1: AWARENESS
It's impossible to change anything in your body unless you are first aware that it's a problem. We all have habits, tendencies and quirks within our body. This can be fine, but when these issues cause dysfunction, they need to be dealt with. RE-CORE-NECT helps you to assess your body and start to reconnect to areas you may not have listened to for a while. Starting with RE-CORE-NECT: Foundations will help you to access all the content you need to spark awareness.

Stage 2: BREATHING
I strongly believe that the breath is the powerhouse to the core. When our breathing patterns become dysfunctional, a whole load of bodily functions can suffer. From digestion to muscle function, posture to continence and prolapse to pain, all of these can be affected negatively through poor breathing patterns. RE-CORE-NECT: Breathe journeys down into the breath and guides you to optimised breathing patterns.

Stage 3: ABDOMINAL CORSET
Once the breathing patterns are improved, there are new avenues of connection with your abdominal corset. So often, I see women gripping and sucking in their abs. We tend to hate the wobble of the jelly belly, especially in the early post natal period, during a flare up of IBS and when we've gained a few pounds. But sucking it all in can have a detrimental effect on posture, digestion, abdominal pressure and even pelvic organ function. Learning to connect the breath to the abdominal activity is key. It takes practice but the exercises and techniques found in RE-CORE-NECT: Abdominals will guide you to better abdominal function.

Stage 4: PELVIC FLOOR
This is so much more than just kegels. Completing a few squeezes every day is not going to improve your pelvic health. You need to access and isolate the correct muscles, move them well and release them fully. RE-CORE-NECT: Pelvic Floor is a journey from technique to basic training and then building to functional training incorporated into daily life and exercise. The pelvic floor muscles often have a lot to answer for in terms of our health and well-being. We can hold onto a lot of tension and emotion in this often difficult to find area of our body.

Stage 5: BACK & BUTTOCKS
The final pieces of the core puzzle are the back and the buttocks. These help us to maintain a good posture from head to toe, provide movement and power to the hips and also promote a dynamic link between stability and mobility of the spine, pelvis and hips. Sedentary lifesyles, long working hours at a desk, long commutes and socialising activities that involve lots of sitting can switch off, lengthen and weaken the back and buttocks. RE-CORE-NECT: Buttocks provides easy exercise progressions to first activate and then train these essential muscles.

At the end of the full RE-CORE-NECT Series, you will feel enlightened, empowered and ready to take on new levels of strength and activity. Throughout the courses, I provide help online through a private Facebook group, email and if you prefer, one-to-one coaching. You can progress to exercise classes, personal training or continue your core exercises to improve and maintain your pelvic health, well into the future.

The RE-CORE-NECT Series

Is the RE-CORE-NECT series for me?

This series of online courses are designed for women of all ages, and especially for those with the following symptoms:

  • Bladder or Bowel Leakage
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse
  • Chronic Pelvic Pain
  • Lower Back or Hip Pain
  • Sciatica
  • Poor Posture
  • Difficulty training the core

These courses are also designed for women in these stages of life:

  • Pregnancy
  • Post Natal
  • Peri to Post Menopause

However, you don't need to have symptoms or within the above mentioned life stages to benefit from the courses.

You may have experienced difficulty with accessing and connecting with your core when exercising, or perhaps you are eager to start exercises but are unsure of how to get started. Perhaps you are anxious about causing problems such as leakage, prolapse and pain. RE-CORE-NECT can guide you on a journey to understanding your body, how it should work and what it should feel like.
