Each of our specialist physiotherapists are on hand to provide you with a warm and friendly welcome to the clinic.

Each physiotherapist is fully qualified following a minimum 3-year degree course. We are all registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are fully insured to work in private practice.

We are also all trained and experienced in managing pelvic health conditions, including pelvic floor therapy, bladder training, bowel training and more.

We are also proud to offer musculoskeletal physiotherapy appointments with Sophie Bloor. Book with Sophie for any joint or muscular problem, management of hypermobility-related issues and injury rehabilitation.

Below are a selection of the pelvic health physiotherapy services we offer. Take a look and book one that feels the best option for you. If you are not sure, there is an option of a free discovery call where you will be able to discuss your questions with one of our physiotherapists.

This is an initial appointment to see a physiotherapist and discuss your symptoms. You will also be able to complete a pelvic examination and will receive a programme and treatment plan.

BOOK A PELVIC HEALTH ASSESSMENT

This is an initial appointment during pregnancy. You can attend at any stage of pregnancy but a pelvic examination is usually available from 16 weeks and as long as your scan is clear.

BOOK A PREGNANCY ASSESSMENT

This is a post natal assessment following any kind of delivery. We would normally see you from 6 weeks post natal but can arrange an earlier appointment if needed.

BOOK A BIRTH & BEYOND ASSESSMENT

This is a pelvic health physiotherapy assessment for women whose main concern is their bladder. This may be incontinence, urgency, pain or recurrent infections.

BOOK A BLADDER ASSESSMENT

This is a pelvic health physiotherapy assessment for women whose main concern is their bladder. This may be incontinence, urgency or constipation.

BOOK A BOWEL ASSESSMENT

This is an initial assessment for women whose main concern is vaginal prolapse. This can feel like heaviness, dragging or a bulge in the vagina.

This assessment is for women who are experiencing chronic pelvic pain. This might be from conditions such as endometriosis, vaginismus, anismus and vestibulodynia. It could also relate to pain with examinations, smear tests and intercourse.

BOOK A PELVIC PAIN ASSESSMENT

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or Cold Laser as it is also known, is a form of photobiomodulation. The red light is applied to areas that are dysfunctional (this may be pain, inflammation or poor wound healing). It is specifically useful for vulvodynia symptoms.

The MAPLe device is a state of the art form of biofeedback and electrical stimulation of the pelvic floor. It is useful in all aspects of pelvic floor rehabilitation but especially in rehabilitation following forceps delivery and obstetric anal sphincter injury.

This assessment is for women who are post natal and eager to return to fitness training. This includes impact training like running, weight lifting and other sports.

This is a physiotherapy assessment for women who are eager to start or return to a fitness training programme. This may be personal training, exercise classes or a sport (you do not need to be post natal).

This is a general pelvic health screening appointment for any woman who wants to review their pelvic health status. There is no need to be experiencing symptoms. Prevention is better than a cure!

Vaginal Pessary Fitting Service

 

We also offer a vaginal pessary fitting service. This service is led by a physiotherapist and is specifically designed to help those experiencing the symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse, laxity and urinary incontinence. Not all women with these symptoms will require a pessary, if you are not sure, please contact us: [email protected]

The pessary fitting appointment includes the following:

  • Discussion of your symptoms & goals
  • Internal Vaginal Examination
  • Speculum Examination
  • POP-Q Prolapse Assessment & Staging
  • Advice & Guidance relating to pessary needs
  • Trial of up to 2 different pessaries in the session (a trial includes insertion of a pessary, movement, passing urine with pessary in situ, and if possible, a trial of an activity that may trigger your symptoms)
  • If a pessary is deemed suitable and in stock, you can take it away / have it fitted on the day. If the pessary is not in stock, you will be invited back to the clinic when it arrives. The cost of the pessary is not included in the assessment cost.
